Red and Green T on Tuesday!!

We were out window shopping at the

Orchard 313

on Sunday
and we couldn't resist
checking these out...

After much "deliberation" ;)) ,
we finally chose..

Uji greentea, strawberry and dafuku mochi waffle

with

Red Tea

The verdict?
Just the way I like it- not too sweet and the green tea waffle is delightful

afterwhich
we took a stroll along the Discovery Walk at 313
and Marche is right beside it.

It was like walking into a traditional swiss chalet...

and here's a warm hello from Marche's mascot

Happy Tea Tuesday Kimmie and everyone!!!

Tea Tuesday

Contrary to the heat wave, we've been getting lots of rain over here in Singapore..
The weather has been wet, muggy and in some areas in Singapore, there were flash floods.
Fortunately for us, we were not affected but the continuos rain and the lack of sunshine brought down the temperature a teeny bit from our usual tropical heat....
the evenings are cool and sometimes we experience a slight chill.

I chose to brew some Ginseng... for all it's goodness stated in the books, ( I hope it works ;)) )
especially in the revitalising bit.
I needed that....
I've been busy but I'm glad I've learnt to consciously sit down and enjoy a cup of tea and to share it with  Kimmie and the wonderful bloggers on Tea Tuesday.

Enjoy your cuppa!!

Stay connected..

I've had a pretty busy week at work

and...

the "creative spirit" was a little sluggish....

well I decided to "plough" through it, anyway...
cutting, pasting and painting ....

and as a result......

Textured background, acrylic and collaged with my own background papers.

Altered photo from my personal collection

Tea Tuesday

After a week of cloudy skies and rain, the sun came out today!
And I've decided to brew some lemon grass tea.

Here's what you need:

Ingredients:
Fresh lemon grass (you may find this in the frozen section in the Asian supermarket).
In the picture above, I've included dried lemon grass bits as you may use either or a combo.
honey or rock sugar/sugar.

Method:
Boil water
Put in the fresh lemon grass
(gently bruise the stalk with the blunt end of the knife to release its fragrance)
and/or the dried lemon grass bits
Add sugar
Turn down the fire after about 10-15 minutes of boiling
when it's cool, keep the mixture in the fridge
If you are adding honey, mix it in when it's cold

Iced lemon grass tea garnished with a stalk of lemon grass

It's been awhile since I last been to the garden...
there's a sense of "calmness" here..
and the birds are singing...

perched on these Manila palms....

the plumerias are blooming....

and its fragrance just fills the air.....

peace...

Happy Tea Tuesday to Kimmie and
the T Tuesday bloggers!

Paint what you love...

and so I did..
a little differently..
payne's gray and white
black on white
and finally
spots of red..

The lotus reminds me of courage, strength, beauty and spirituality....
it keeps me grounded.

10" x 19.5" canvas

I love this quote from Rumi and I'll share it again...

"Let the beauty you love,
be what you do.."

Untitled 1

This piece was created
with layers of collage and paint.
I meandered along the whole painting process
following my "mood".
And I have not given a specific title to it
because..

one can interpret it accordingly.

when I painted this today,
I had a mixture of feelings....
and as I progressed through the layers, the colors I chose represented the present....
( and yes I was painting with Jazz in the background)

so, how would you interpret this painting?
I'll be happy to read your comments... :))

Happy weekend!!

T Tuesday

Sure is good to be home again...
and to join you for tea!! :))

and while we were away, I had my daily dose of tea and
 saved these....

aren't these bottles beautiful?
see that curvaceous shape?
and the labels...
I am so inspired right now to "elevate these elements and create new worlds for them" (Lazenby). ....
(If only these bottles could talk !  ;)) ).

and this colorful wrapper from a japanese matcha (green tea powder) cookie....

ahhhh....delightful...

And of course we returned to a bountiful supply of tropical fruits for the season
and what we have here are the mangosteens..

Happy Tea Tuesday and do visit Kimmie and
the T Tuesday gals for their unique stories and their tea adventures!

Collections from the journey....

I've been unpacking and these are some of the stuff
I've brought back from my trip...
from fish and chips wrappers to protective sheets
for delicate items
(which was given to me by the kind retailer at a shop;
see that jagged looking paper where the red die cut bear is resting on?)

And guess what, I bought a box of rice cakes while on transit at
 Narita Airport in Tokyo
as the paper was too pretty to resist.  ;)

all for collage.......

And I've been wide eyed and awake while everyone was sleeping last night....
so what did jet lag do to me? ;))

I made some background papers in the wee hours of the night,
painting, printing and organizing my stash of papers etc....

Assembling and having fun.....

arranging the elements......

I stumbled upon this quote by collage artist, Mark Lazenby which got me thinking about my perspectives on beauty in discarded and found elements for collage art....

" There's a great deal of beauty and truth to be found in things we discard.
Bits of trash, pieces of printed matter-I seek to rescue and elevate these fragments.
I want to make new worlds out of them"...

Well I'm off to do some cutting, tearing and pasting some papers and found objects.....

Have a good week!!

Art amidst "turbulence"...

Yep,
and amidst air turbulence
I held onto my pen
and zentangled away....
I must say it's good occupational therapy for
those fine motor skills....  :))

Inspired by the peacock....more on this....
