Tea in Burma..

Today, I'd like to share a story about the village of Kayin Chaung,

which is 2 hours away from the city of  Yangon in Burma..

the journey took us on a boat ride..

pass fishing villages..

to the quiet and quaint village centre....

Especially so, this story will evolve around the children who experienced
Cyclone Nargis

Now, nearly 3 years later, life goes on.....

 "the entrepreneur"

the student who only wanted to practice her English..(so proud of her)

happy kids,  playful kids....

and their amazing resilience and bravery...

These children came to the clinic as they apparently experienced partial hearing loss
after Nargis.. Thankfully it wasn't serious..

and after a day's work, we had a sumptuous lunch of local village food
followed by
burmese pickled tea leaves eaten with fried nuts served with tea...

and so this is Yangon....

Happy Tuesday everyone..

I have seen photos and pictures like these temples in my Asian books, but you are SO lucky to experience this first hand.

And of course, the children look SO happy. I can only imagine the devastation the cyclone must have taken and the miraculous recovery of the village and the children. I am in total awe of this post and the way you showed the village and children.

Oh my goodness - you live in such a beautiful part of the world! Beautiful people and beautiful places! Those children are indeed very courageous! I can't imagine enduring cyclone winds with such little protection from them!

Thank you so much for the tour! That made my day!

hugs, Kimmie

Love the photos of the people especially 'the entrepreneur', she is beautiful and brave--even tho she looks shy. The bridge photo is beautiful! I missed this posting on tea day and so glad I came back :)

What a magical trip. Thanks for sharing this with us because it's a place I will probably never be able to visit, or even imagined existed.
