I had tea at the the Bai minority village in Yunnan recently,
and it was such a wonderful experience.
I was surrounded by:
beauty...
and an interesting tea drinking experience.
we were served 3 types of tea, and in order of sequence,
first a bowl of preserved fruits (sweetened)
then the first tea is bitter tea
followed by sweet tea
and then a spicy concoction with a particular spice which temporarily numbed my palate.
well, the overall experience was "refreshing", though ;)
and then i "snooped" around the area with my camera
walking through different corners of the village
and finding an artisan or two busy at work
with their hand embroidery
and it was such a wonderful experience.

I was quite taken by all the colorful hats the gals wore. And also so impressed by the tea tasting that is SO different from ANYTHING I have ever had. It's good that they kept the spicy till last, or it would have dulled your senses to the taste of the others. What a magical place this must be. Happy, happy Tea Tuesday, dear friend.

What an amazing tea outing .... I love the head dresses the women are wearing ... They look so so exotic. And I would like to try the taste testing you describe. That could be done with any number of things ... Sweet then bitter then spice ... Thank you for sharing your travels with us!
